Waste as a problem or a resource? This is the question at the heart of the Forum The city of the future: Recycle to reduce CO2 emissions, learning to focus on secondary raw materials. At the Road to green event, in collaboration with Unirima, ideas and perspectives of #circulareconomy in Italy.

An event designed to discuss concrete ideas for the recovery and reuse of waste, with a specific focus on paper.

This was a particular year, which put us to the test, upsetting our normality and bringing with it a strong emotional charge: everything was clearly visible in many of the projects, which looked hungry to a free and sustainable future.

“There are many people who already have a #green conscience, and are committed to sustainability on a daily basis, but there are many who have not yet understood the importance. It is to them we must speak, trying to raise awareness and provide information ”. This is the thought expressed by Barbara Molinario, President of Road to Green 2020 at “The city of the Future”.

This is the thought of Francesco Sicilia Director of Unirima, speaker at the Forum “The city of the future”: “The challenge for the future is to try to optimize our consumption, not to try to chase ever new energy sources, always maintaining a good quality of life. The system must be based on efficiency, effectiveness and ecology.

While Michela Monaco, clinical psychologist and creator of the Sbottonando brand, speaker at “The city of the Future” states that: “It is nice to see how the personality of the user passes through the use of a material, breaking the rules and creating something new. I often do creative workshops with children, in which I let them express themselves freely, putting different objects at their disposal, without directing them on how they should be used “.

These are some of the thoughts of the speakers present at the event.

At this contest I talked about my RRXX project, that is the crochet of X-ray plates, a utility model patented at the Bari Chamber of Commerce in 2016.

I didn’t win the contest, which was won by Botai, but #sognandoloscirocco, Ortogiuda-VerticalGreenMidorj won special mentions.

I can only be happy with this beautiful experience, even if the emotions prevailed and caused a certain hindrance in my relationship.

It often happens to me that good things come unexpectedly, I like to be continually surprised by life and what it has in store for me. This is one of the secrets of happiness and serenity.

One morning I thought of sending the email to Preziosa Magazine to test myself and try to understand how far I can go. I always sent her with the usual enthusiasm that characterizes me, but, precisely, without fantasizing too much about the outcome of my application. I try as much as possible to keep my feet on the ground when taking steps towards my success.

The answer came and even with a certain speed, it was positive, they had taken me. So at that moment I took off: it is pleasant to understand how high you can reach with constant effort, dedication and commitment. I have overcome another obstacle and I am proud of myself and of what I have managed to create and make concrete with my own strength.

I think it is appropriate to make mine the phrase of the great Ezio Bosso: “Do not wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect!

Little by little my path is taking shape, I’m not in a hurry, I have a dream to spread in the wind.

I participated with a jewel entitled “Projections”.

I expressed the will to project ourselves into the future, free us from negativity, escape from harmful thoughts to the construction of a different future. We take the best of this dark period and try to live with more awareness.

The message is to project ourselves into the future and neutralize harmful thoughts.

It was a difficult and unusual season, but as usual, Polignano did not disappoint me.

I left without expecting anything and I was returned with the same amazement and admiration of the other years.
Of course, changing the type and origin of tourists, I noticed different choices from other years, but still effective.

During the days of my stay in Polignano I have always liked photographing the brides who have passed by the parts of the gallery.

It all started in the first year, it seemed nice to me to portray the happy moments of the “Poligano brides”. I have a photo gallery full of brides, blondes, brunettes, low, high …

Only one has passed this year. Covid has reduced marriages as we already know.

One meeting to highlight was the one with the writer Patrizia Gesuita. He was in town for the presentation of his book “Ester’s secret” at the Pino Pascali Museum and fate wanted us to know each other.

To say that he is a beautiful person is limited.

Among the narrow streets of the historic center of Polignano a Mare there is a small gallery in Via Porto, 83 and like every year, again this year, I will tell you stories of jewels.

This year I decided to devote a little more time also to the small talk since, due to the historical period we went through, I was not able to adequately pamper my sirocco ladies.

Of course, virtually, I have always been present, but the sirocco, being a wind, feels the need for contact, the need to spread whispered words.

And then the day came when I decided to propose my jewel to an art exhibition, I wasn’t sure what I was doing, but I decided that, for myself, I would have to take this little big step.

The curator Gina Affinito of the homonymous gallery in Lecce had organized an art exhibition at the Monumental Complex San Severo al Pendino, in Naples.

The theme of the exhibition was “Animus et Anima”, whose premise was by C. G. Jung, psychoanalyst and anthropologist. A few words, but of an overwhelming delicacy, to which I still think today: “Every man has a woman in himself and every woman has a man in him”.

I thought of this jewel, named DNA, without too much conviction of being selected, being my first art exhibition. When, unexpectedly, I received an email saying that I had returned to the 48 artists, who would exhibit in the suggestive Church of San Severo al Pendino. I couldn’t believe it, I was in seventh heaven, my efforts had been worthily rewarded and I owed it to me, to my creativity and to my resourcefulness.

You are wondering why I thought about DNA. The DNA helices are distinct, but information is transmitted and exchanged via hydrogen bonds. What better example than that of chemistry and genetics, in which everything mixes and gets confused. I imagine the female and male soul as the DNA helices, embracing each other, while remaining on their own positions.

It would seem obvious that, for the realization of a jewel, it is necessary to study, but this time it was not just a question of refining the techniques.

To make this jewel and to participate in this competition, organized by the “Studio Vonmo” in Beijing, I had to get to grips with Chinese mythology and I must say that, although at the beginning I found it difficult to fully understand a new culture, I found it a constructive experience.

Titled “Relations”, here is the synopsis.

Free artistic interpretation of Fu Xi, one of the three mythical Chinese sovereigns, called “The Three Augustus”. Usually Fu Xi is always represented intertwined with the tail of his sister Nuwa, but in this jewel the myth has been revisited: the two brothers are represented entirely in the form of snakes and share a single body, which eventually allows them to intertwine their heads.

Since he was the first Chinese civilizing hero, I thought that the head should be placed in the foreground, intertwined with another head to compare and relate. Relationships, a bridge between the ancient and modern world, between man and contemporary jewelery, between divine and profane.

In 2019, enthusiastic about Chinese culture, the studio Vonmo (Beijing) chooses “Chinese mythology ′ ′ and collects works of contemporary art from all over the world.” I am rather impressed by the artists’ passion for Chinese mythology, this is our honor. From 58 artists at home and abroad (who have presented 156 works in total), the organizing committee of ′ ′ Chinese mythology “has selected 31 artists (with 65 works) to participate in the exhibition. The exhibition will be held in the Beijing space Aotu at the scheduled time. “

With a multifaceted character, Cristina is a lover of beauty.

When we first met, before I started making jewelry, what struck me was the care of its appearance, never in an ephemeral way. The search for accessories was and still is determined by a state of pleasure and by those details that appear beautiful to her eyes, which distinguish her and characterize her personality.

She is a woman with a resolute character, strong as the wind and indomitable as the sea.

It is always a pleasure to have a chat with her. I love spending time with people with irony and frankness. Irony that almost always leads to sarcasm, obviously used with praiseworthy skill.

It is useless to underline that certain qualities are possessed by people with strong intelligence.

Gratitude is a feeling that belongs to me, in fact Cristina superbly wears my creations. There are some jewels that claim to be worn only by a fully self-aware woman.

It is in this scenario of multiple talents of my sciroccata lady, that immense satisfaction matures in me.

Ricordi sospesi

This piece participated in an art exhibition, “Memorie abbandonate”, at the Circuiti Dinamici association – Milan – December 2018.

Now she is in possession of a lawyer from Bassano del Grappa. The greatest joy is knowing that it is in good hands. I am in constant contact with the lady who bought it, I will always have news of my jewel.

Synopsis:

Sometimes the roots bind the human being, other times they are the foundation of the future, it is up to man to discern according to the situations that must be faced. The necklace wants to represent a joint between roots, mind (the circles in the lower part) and memories (photo negatives). The negatives are suspended, because with every little movement and stimulus they take shape, they come to life in the mind. The necklace closes with a cord: it symbolizes the most fickle memory of the human being, of whom we only know that it was pleasant, that of life in the womb, to which an umbilical cord joined us. Closing the necklace is a key, a symbol of the memories that man wants to keep, protect and keep under lock and key.

The moment the necklace is worn I imagine the negatives moving, the roots instead firm and rigid and, fantasizing, I can also see the circles of the mind turn, the key is there, which dangling, invites you to be grasped and used.

Techniques:

the necklace was made by wrapping jute to a metal core to make the roots. As for the mind, in the lower part, rings have been worked with the technique of crochet with glass beads and scotland thread. The circles of the mind are alternated with carved radiological plates. The photographic negatives are worked with a crochet lurex polyester thread until it fits with the cord, which is partly sewn.

Materials:

Jute, glass beads, cord for curtains, key (recycling), radiological plates, lurex polyester yarn, photographic negatives, aluminum and plastic circles.

Dindalon

The Circuits Dynamics Association of Milan, in February 2019, launched a competition on the theme “Innocence and wonder”.https://www.circuitidinamici.it/2019/02/10/innocenza-e-meraviglia/

Dindalon… “Back and forth on the swing, I push my arms, legs and back, I look at the world going up and down, it’s here first then it’s gone.” (Nursery rhyme of the swing)

Dindalon… I feel light as silk, with the wind in my hair, but also strong and master of the world for having ousted the adult who refuses to go up. I can touch the sky with a finger and then immediately down to crawl my feet on the ground. I feel my eyes, but it doesn’t matter. In the garden of memories I am the bizarre princess!

On the swing there is an invisible girl, who goes up and down challenging the world and her peers. The child is the result of memories of a time now lost. The flowers represent the garden where the girl feels princess for a fraction of her childish life. The silk cords are the lightness of the moment and the two pearls are royalty. The imposing eye is challenged, in fact it is as if it were subdued by the swing.

“Dindalon” now lives in Bassano del Grappa and is in excellent hands.

I think that every artist, creative, craftsman, having to detach himself from his work, is gratified by the fact that he will one day be able to see it again.
